LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – The Lester Prairie Bergen Busy Bees 4-H Club encourages everyone to join them in celebrating National 4-H Week, Sunday, Oct. 5 through Saturday, Oct. 11. The group will be hosting several events open to the public, whether interested in joining 4-H or not.
The Bergen Busy Bees will be decorating the window at Angvall Hardware and Mercantile in Lester Prairie Sunday, Oct. 5.
Then, at 2 p.m. they will be at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie for a presentation by Raymond Warren of Brooklyn Center. Warren is a Shriner clown named Cocoa, and will describe what it’s like. The presentation is open to the public and should be fun for all ages.

The Bergen Busy Bees will be visiting various businesses in Lester Prairie from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. They encourage everyone to shop, visit, and share 4-H experiences with them at that time.
If you are asking yourself the question, “Why should I be interested in 4-H?”, perhaps these people can help you out:
Ashley Lukes says her favorite thing about 4-H is that she is able to learn about animals, even though she lives in town.
Sally Krull says 4-H provides a lot of learning experiences and great opportunities.
Maggie Krull explains, “In 4-H, you can meet a lot of new people, and by doing projects, you learn a lot.”
Parents Mike and Reada Lukes agree that 4-H has opened great opportunities for their daughter.
They explain, “It has given her a chance to work with animals that she would not normally have the chance to work with – being in town. It gives her a chance to meet new people, and we get to work together as a family, as well. There are so many project areas that she can do, and so many people that are willing to help.”
“You learn that 4-H has great opportunities in which to determine students’ interests, and, for us, brings the family closer together,” the Lukes family explains.
If I could, I would ask Vice President Al Gore; the Garfield creator, Jim Davis; actor Tom Wopat; and singer Reba McEntire what it was like for them to be in 4-H.
