• The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers boys’ basketball team won its first game of the season Tuesday, beating Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 77-64 in the Central Minnesota Conference opener for both teams.
• Also playing in their Central Minnesota Conference opener, the HLWW girls’ basketball team defeated Pierz 66-54.
• The Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity Bulldogs girls’ basketball team continues to look for its first win of the season after falling to Mayer Lutheran 45-30 Tuesday in non-conference action.
• In the Wright County Conference opener for the Watertown-Mayer Royals girls’ basketball team, they beat Annandale 75-70.
