The Ash Wednesday Blizzard of 2023 brought the Herald Journal area to a standstill as snowfall rates exceeded two inches per hour for several hours.
From Tuesday, Feb. 21, through Thursday, Feb. 23, the area saw 16 to 20 inches of snow, making it one of the most significant snowstorms in recent history.

The Winsted Knights of Columbus (KOC) invite the community to its upcoming all-you-can-eat fish fry, taking place Friday, March 10, at the Blue Note Ballroom. The event will feature a spread of fish filets, homemade tartar sauce, french fries, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, and beverages, including milk and coffee.
