They are one of the 22 teams in the inaugural season of the Minnesota American Legion Softball League (MALSL), and they made it to the state tournament.

After graduating from Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School in 1998, Paul Jaskowiak decided the next phase of his life would be pursuing a career with the United States Navy. Now, after nearly 24 years in service to his country, Jaskowiak is ready to stay on land more permanently.

HLWW Board approves new child care program

Community Education Director Rachel Bender presented detailed information on a vision for a new childcare program that extends to preschool-aged children, leading the school board to approve quickly. The proposed program will cover both preschool and school-aged children, providing much-needed childcare in the area at a reasonable rate and keeping some families from seeking child care and schooling outside of the district.

Andy Birkholz celebrates the 20th anniversary of his heart transplant with a fundraiser

Andy Birkholz (Lester Prairie) was only 16 years old when he needed a heart transplant. Andy wants to celebrate the 20th anniversary by teaming up with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest, to raise $20,000.
