Last HLWW meeting regarding upcoming vote tonight at the middle school

HOWARD LAKE, WAVERLY, WINSTED, MN – The final meeting will take place tonight (Tuesday, May 14) at 6 p.m. at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Middle School commons to allow the public access to building information prior to the upcoming vote, which will take place Thursday, May 23.

Information regarding the construction of a new middle school, remodeling the current elementary schools, and demolishing a portion of the current middle school will be offered at the meeting.

Michael Raymond Specken, 62, of Winsted passed away May 9 at his residence surrounded by family following a two year battle with cancer.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Specken took place today (Monday, May 13) at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher and Father Tony Hesse as Concelebrants. Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation took place Sunday, May 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service 7 p.m. Further visitation took place today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

HLWW to decide on a construction firm at tonight’s meeting

HOWARD LAKE, WAVERLY, WINSTED, MN – The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School Board will be discussing construction management firms, and approving one to lead the project to build a middle school and remodel the elementary schools at tonight’s meeting at 6 p.m. Other items on the agenda include curriculum reports, increasing the price of school lunches, extending the school year due to two snow days in April, and controlled access at school entrances.
