The Holy Trinity Knights of Columbus invite all girls and boys ages 9-14 to participate in the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest.  The contest will be this Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the Holy Trinity gymnasium in Winsted, with registration at 12:00 (noon) and the contest beginning at 12:30.  Please bring a copy of your birth certificate with to verify your age.  Contact Mike Bjork at (612) 245-0011 if you have any questions.

Kindergarten Registration Open House for the 2020-2021 school year will take place on Thursday, January 30 from 5:00-6:00 in the Kindergarten Rooms.  A child must have completed early childhood screening and be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2020 to attend Kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year.

 

Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity will be performing their One Act Competition piece, Ghostly Trinkets to the public TONIGHT, at 7 pm in the LPHS Gym. The cast will take the play to Mayer Lutheran on Saturday, January 25th. Performances will begin at 9:30. LPHT will perform at 12:30. The competition is free to the public. Per competition rules, please do not wear any LPHT clothing.

Senior High Band will be playing for snofest coronation on Monday, January 27th. Please be in the gym ready to play by 7:15 pm.

 

All students in grades 7-12 interested in being on the Bulldog Trap Shooting team this spring, there will be a mandatory team meeting in Mr. Bjork’s room (room 126) at LPHS on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  This will be the official sign up and informational  meeting.  If you are new to the team, bring a copy of your DNR Firearms Safety certificate.  See Mr. Bjork with questions or email, bjork@lp.k12.mn.us

For this event we need new and gently used books of all ages (including adult) as prizes for Bingo and other games

 

A drop box for collecting books will be located by the office for you to drop off your books or you can send them to school with your child

Activities and Sports:

All students in grades 7-12 interested in being on the Bulldog Trap Shooting team this spring, there will be a mandatory team meeting in Mr. Bjork’s room (room 126) at LPHS on Sunday January 26, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  This will be the official sign up and informationation meeting.  If you are new to the team, bring a copy of your DNR Firearms Safety certificate.  See Mr. Bjork with questions or email, bjork@lp.k12.mn.us

Important Notes and Reminders:

 

The annual Spelling Bee was held Monday afternoon in the Media Center. Congratulations to Brodee Sawicki on winning the contest.  Brodee will now move on to the Regional Spelling Bee on February 4th in Redwood Falls.  The results are:  8th Place – Devin Martinez, 7th Place – Grace Bayerl, 6th Place – Taylor Eiden, 5th Place – Mallorie Torry, 4th Place – Mattie Schultz, 3rd Place – Gael Lopez, 2nd Place – Carl Overbye, and 1st Place – Brodee Sawicki. Congratulations to all of the contestants.  You all did an awesome job.

Seniors: Please stop in the office and confirm your legal name as it is to appear on your diploma.

Any seniors who are going on the senior class trip should get their participant registration form from Ms. Smith.  Seniors need to fill out the sheet and hand back to Ms. Smith as soon as possible. Thanks so much!

The next payment for the senior class trip is due Friday, January 17th, at the end of the quarter. This should give you enough time to do the pizza fundraiser if you need extra money in your account.  Please give your check to Mr. W.  Thanks!

Congratulations to Team 15264, the LP BullBots, on qualifying for Stratasys Minnesota State Championships on February 7th and 8th at Washington Technology Magnet School in St. Paul!  They finished the day in 2nd, as a Finalist Captain, Finalist for the Design Award and the Think Award.

 

Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on Friday, January 17th because it is the end of the second quarter. Students will not have school on Monday, January 20th because it is an in-service day for the staff.

 

There will be a Snofest planning meeting TODAY during lunch. Grab your lunch and come to Ms. Stender’s room.

 

The next free lunch for high school students will be tomorrow, Jan. 15, at St. Peter’s Church.
