Howard Lake City Council to discuss “Villas” development ordinance modification on Oct. 15


HOWARD LAKE, MN – The Howard Lake City Council will discuss a possible PUD ordinance modification for the Villas of Howard Lake development at their Oct. 15 meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m.

Other items on the agenda include discussion of the Lions Park Project change order, the closure of Dutch Lake Trails to vehicles on Halloween, authorization for the sale and disposal of a surplus squad car, and police assistance/public street use for the 10th Annual Turkey Tag-Along 5K.

 

Dassel-Cokato School Board to review assessment results Monday, Oct. 14

DASSEL, COKATO, MN – The Dassel-Cokato School Board will review the 2018-2019 assessment results at their meeting on Oct. 14.

Other items on the agenda are a presentation from the South Africa trip and a discussion concerning bonds.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Evan Lee, Jessa Hiemerl, Myranda Mallak and Addison Hoof for being named All Conference in the MCAA. Congratulations to Addison Hoof who took first place at the MCAA Conference Cross Country Meet. What an accomplishment! The girls’ team took 2nd overall as well, great job girls!   Evan Lee took 4th place at the Conference Meet, congratulations Evan!

Any seniors interested in applying for the MSHSL Triple A Award, please see Mr. Kramer at this time.

The Junior class is selling fruit from MinTex.  Please sell and collect money right away, checks made to Lester Prairie Schools.  Forms and money are due to Mrs. Scoblic on Wednesday , Nov. 6th.  Delivery will be early December.  Extra forms are available in Mrs. Scoblic’s room.  Thank you!

October 7-11 is National 4-H Week!

What do Johnny Cash, Julia Roberts, Faith Hill, Al Gore, David Letterman, and Luke Bryan all have in common?  They were once all members of 4-H. 4-H is one of the largest youth development programs in the country with more that 7 million members and 640,000 volunteers nationwide.

Seniors are selling pies from Carlson’s Apple Orchard. They are selling until Oct 25th and will be delivered Nov 15th.

Attention 9th – 12th grades: The Lester Prairie Lions are sponsoring an essay contest on how you step out of your comfort zone to influence others. There will be cash prizes! Who doesn’t like winning money?!?  Students who are participating in the Lions Club essay contest should turn their essays in to Ms. Carmine TODAY.

There are a lot of articles in the lost and found on the elementary side of the building.  Please check to see if you are missing anything. All articles will be discarded on Wednesday, October 16th.

The next free lunch for high school will be on Wed., Oct. 16th at Bethel Church.

Holy Trinity is once again having their Halloween Bash for students in grades 5-12!  This event is open to anyone in the community whether they are an H.T. student, Religious Ed Student, L.P. student or whatever!  The Bash is on Friday, Oct. 25th and permission slips and payment are due by Monday, Oct. 21st.  Permission slips are available in the L.P. school office.

HALLOWEEN BASH FOOD DRIVE CHANGED

Due to the driving regulations of Catholic Mutual (the HT insurance company), we will not drive around town to collect food on Friday October 25th. Instead we highly encourage people to still donate food items to the McLeod County food shelf, but we will not have students coming by to collect those items. Items may be brought to Holy Trinity School in the days prior to or the night of the Bash. We will ensure that those items are brought to the food shelf.  Students are encouraged, as well, to bring donation items with them that evening. The rest of the Halloween Bash WILL take place as previously scheduled – just no drive around town to collect food prior to the games in the gym. Thank you for understanding the change in the food drive; we look forward to seeing you at the Holy Trinity Halloween Bash!!!

The Military Release Forms are due ASAP

The ACT Permission and Money are due on Monday, October 28th.

Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents will be held on Wed.,  Nov. 6th at 6:30 in Room 126.

 

The school dental fluoride treatment, cleaning and sealants consent forms are due by Wed., Oct. 16th.  This is a wonderful service proved by licensed dental professionals.  Students in preschool through 12th grade may participate.  Additional forms are available in the school office.

Sign up for Just for Kix dance classes by calling 507-581-2144 or going to glencoe_mn@justforkix.com.  Classes begin Oct. 14th and run through Nov. 19th.  There are classes for ages 18 months to 12th grade.

 

4th, 5th and 6th grade youth football practice will start earlier at 5:45pm and finish at 7:15pm starting with the Tuesday October 1st practice.  Also, please note that games scheduled for Saturday October 5th have been rescheduled to Saturday October 12th due to a scheduling conflict at Roberts Park.  Game times will be the same.

Watch out for mud and debris on County roads

MCLEOD COUNTY, MN – With the fall harvest starting and the abundance of wet weather conditions, motorists are reminded to pay particular attention to mud and other debris on the roadways.
Mud that is left on the roadways can create a safety hazard to the traveling public.
Persons depositing mud and other debris onto public roads and streets are responsible for its removal. Failure to clean up mud and other debris may be punishable as a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statutes 169.42.
Mud or debris concerns can be reported to McLeod County Public Works during normal business hours at
320.484.4321 or mcleod.highway@co.mcleod.mn.us.

After hours and weekends the concerns should be directed to the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office at 320.864.3134.
McLeod County Public Works appreciates the public’s cooperation helping maintain a safe highway system.

Come and get your flu shot during conferences TODAY! The flu vaccination clinic will be held that day from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Anyone age 6 months and older may receive the vaccination. Bring your insurance card or you may pay with cash.  Consent forms are available in the office.

fake flowers (enough to fill a wagon)

1 black cloak

1 small stool (the size for someone who would be milking a cow)

1 fairy costume (that would fit a teenaged girl)

1 bike pump

1 pair of boys’ pajamas (that would fit a 13 year old boy; preferably with buttons/collar on the shirt and matching bottoms) 

red bed sheets (2 or more)

2 lawn chairs

1 shawl

1 pocket watch
