Mrs. Greenwald is still in need of 3 students to go to the food shelf on Tuesday, November 19th.  You can earn service hours for volunteering.  Let Mrs. Greenwald know if you are interested.

 The Honor Society is having their annual coin drive this week, Nov. 11 -15.  The class cups will be located in Mr. Ness’s room.  Please check out the posters that are hanging around school for more information.  

There will be a Jr. High Knowledge Bowl meeting Tuesday during lunch in Mrs. Simmons room.

Howard Lake will have a 2-hour late start this Wednesday, Nov. 13th.  There will be NO Morning buses for HT students who ride the HL bus.  You will need to find your own way to school on Wednesday.   The afternoon buses will run as scheduled.

Any boy in 9-12 who are planning on playing basketball should come to the office for a message.

3:15 – JHBBB practice at HT

4:30-6:00- BBB Captains practice at LP

5:00-9:00 – Cross Country Banquet at LP Cafeteria

We will have Mass tomorrow at 8:15 – remember to dress up – NO t-shirts, jeans, and hooded sweatshirts are to be worn – All shirts for both boys and girls must have a collar on them – if you wear a hooded sweatshirt as a jacket in the morning you must take it off for Mass – please re-read the dress code article in the student handbook as to the appropriate attire.

Those planning on attending the youth group event need to sign up by noon tomorrow.  If you sign up you need to make sure that you show up on Sunday as the leaders are counting on you to help with the cards.  Food and beverages will be provided.

Barn dance residency in Waverly

WAVERLY, MN – Humphrey Elementary will be hosting Central Minnesota Arts Board guest teaching artist Cristina Seaborn. This residency will culminate in a public barn dance Friday, Nov. 8 in the gymnasium at Humphrey Elementary in Waverly.  The students will showcase and teach the dances to interested audience members at the following times:  kindergarten and grade 2 from 12:30-1:10 p.m., grade 4 from 1:15-2 p.m., and grade 1 and grade 3 from 2:10-2:50 p.m.  These Barn Dance performances are free and open to the public. This teaching artist Residency Award was made possible through a grant from the Central Minnesota Arts Board, with funding provided by the McKnight Foundation.

Free community meal in HL

HOWARD LAKE, MN – St. James Lutheran School, 1000 6th Ave. in Howard Lake, will host a free community meal featuring chicken and waffles Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the school. The public is welcome.

Garden center open house in LP

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Holasek Flower Power Garden Center’s annual winter open house will take place Friday and  Saturday, Nov. 8-9. Visitors will be able to preview poinsettias and winter spruce containers in the warmth of the greenhouse.

Presentation about physician-assisted suicide in HL

HOWARD LAKE, MN – Rev. Fredric Hinz will give a presentation on the issue of physician-assisted suicide Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Howard Lake. The public is welcome to attend and be informed about this topic.
