Unearthing the runway

FOR SUBSCRIBERS: Travelers heading north on Hwy. 6 out of Winsted recently may have wondered what the heavy equipment was doing about two miles outside of town. Winsted City Administrator Adam Birkholz confirmed contractor R & G Construction, from Marshall, was digging clay from the hillside for use in the construction of a runway at the Winsted Airport.

Mayer Lutheran High School hosts graduation ceremony, will begin school year Aug. 26

FOR SUBSCRIBERS: Mayer Lutheran High School in Mayer hosted its 2020 graduation ceremony June 27 at the school.

The 57 graduates from Mayer Lutheran High School, and the two graduates from Genesis Virtual Academy, the online school operated by Mayer Lutheran, received their diplomas one month and three days later than originally scheduled, as the May 24 commencement service was postponed due to restrictions in place at the time by the Executive Order of Governor Walz.

All artists set to return for Winstock ‘21; tickets now on sale

FOR SUBSCRIBERS: As heard Thursday morning on K102, all 11 national acts – including headliners Luke Combs and Darius Rucker – and all four regional acts that were confirmed for Winstock 2020 have signed on to perform at Winstock 2021, set for Friday-Saturday, June 18-19. Tickets went on sale today at 10 a.m. and feature special “early-early bird” pricing.

Feltmann family shares what it’s like to have a baby during a pandemic

FOR SUBSCRIBERS: As some women know, your first pregnancy can be a time of lots of emotions: excitement, fear, joy, and impatience. Put all those emotions together and release them during a global pandemic, and you may sense how Adam and Mallory Feltmann, Lester Prairie, were feeling as they awaited the arrival of their first baby. The Feltmanns were delighted to be expecting. Mallory was happy that Adam was able to attend her doctor appointments with her. Then came COVID-19, and things changed.
