Ameriprise Financial cuts 300; layoffs don’t hit locally

About 300 jobs were cut of employees working at the headquarters of Ameriprise Financial in downtown Minneapolis Tuesday reported the Minneapolis & St. Paul Business Journal.

The cuts do not appear to directly impact local residents who are employed by the company.  For example, Barry Kyllo of Lester Prairie, who works as a compliance officer for Ameriprise, reported that the cuts affected his job in a secondary sort of way, but otherwise didn’t cause harm.  “Hopefully, it’s the last shoe to fall,” he added.

He noted that independent advisors who operate under the Ameriprise name are not affected in any way by the cuts at the Minneapolist headquarters, since they are locally owned and operated.
