Winsted brush site now open

WINSTED, MN – The Winsted brush site, located south on County Road 9, is now open. Bring grass clippings,brush, leaves, smaller logs and appliances/electronics for recycling.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
April –November (Weather Permitting)
Mondays – 4pm to Dark
Wednesdays – 4 pm to Dark
Saturdays – 9 am to 1 pm
REMINDERS…
Permits are not required for brush & compost.
Permits are required to recycle appliance & electronics. Permits can be purchased at City Hall.

Lester Prairie School Board won’t change kindergarten program

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Lester Prairie School Board, after considering significant input from residents, voted to keep the districts kindergarten and pre-k programs as they are, rather than pursuing an all-day, every other day model that had been proposed to save $13 in mid-day busing costs. The district will need to find cost savings in other areas.
Donations for the Winsted Chamber food drive due today, March 31

WINSTED, MN – The Winsted Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding everyone donations of food or cash for the McLeod County Food Shelf are due today, March 31st.
Any food or cash donated will be matched by Heartland. Also, there is a chamber challenge between Winsted, Glencoe and Hutchinson going on as well. Food items can be dropped of at Winsted City Hall.

ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Ron Shimanski (R-Silver Lake), with his intern, Jake Kutz, son of John and Lois Kutz of Winsted, at the capitol in St. Paul.
Jake is serving an internship during the current legislative session as part of public administration course work at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he is a graduate student.
Jake, a 2006 graduate of Holy Trinity High School, earned a criminal justice degree from St. Cloud State University. He served on the student council in high school and was a student senate member in college.
