The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers girls basketball team improved to 14-4 overall and 8-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference with a 59-42 win over Pierz, at home, Friday.
Also winning Friday was the Watertown-Mayer Royals girls basketball team as they defeated Annandale 67-60 in Wright County Conference play.
The Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity Bulldogs girls basketball team were beaten by Maranatha Christian 66-28.
In boys basketball, the Watertown-Mayer Royals came up short against Annandale, falling 66-64.

A men’s gathering of food, fellowship and faith is planned for Saturday, Feb. 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
Coffee will be available at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and program to follow 8 to 10 a.m. Free admission.

The Lester Prairie Lions will serve a pancake breakfast Sunday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lester Prairie City Hall. Proceeds will support community projects.
There will be a collection of old eye glasses and hearing aids at the breakfast.
Volunteers package 60,264 meals in Lester Prairie

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – More than 200 volunteers of all ages packaged 60,264 meals for those in need during a Kids Against Hunger event in Lester Prairie Thursday. The group also collected $8,400 in donations. This was the sixth year the event was conducted in Lester Prairie. Meals packaged Thursday will go to help disaster victims in Haiti.
