WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Authorities are trying to piece together clues as to why a person was attempting to walk across I-94 west of Monticello, and then struck by two vehicles, thereby being killed Oct. 29.
The pedestrian’s identity will be announced at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. According to the accident report filed by the State Patrol, the person “walked into westbound traffic and then was struck by vehicle one and vehicle two.”
The first vehicle, a 1999 Kenworth, was being driven by a Canadian citizen, Ken Turton, 59, of Regina, Canada. He stopped and made statements to investigative authorities. A second vehicle also struck the pedestrian, but left the scene. It is possible that the driver didn’t know he or she struck someone, reported WCCO during its Friday newscast.
Investigative authorities included the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Cloud Police Department.
