Liners will save New Germany residents money

Bob Roepke is right about the advantages of putting a liner in New Germany’s sanitary sewer lines. Roepke advised the city council to get liners at the council meeting last week. It won’t solve all of the inflow and infiltration problems, but it helps a lot. Continue reading ‘Liners will save New Germany residents money’

Will Highway 7 resurfacing be done by Nov. 15?

MnDOT announced that work on the Highway 7 construction project is set to begin April 14 and be done by Nov. 15. I hope they will be able to stick to this timetable because road construction is extremely inconvenient for everyone. If it takes too long, it can ruin businesses along the road. Spend it on a bridge, not another investigation

State Sen. Dick Day, R-Owatonna, is asking legislators to reverse its decision to spend $500,000 on another investigation of the collapse of the I-35W bridge. Taxpayers would rather have the money go to replace a bridge than waste it on another investigation, he said. Amen to that.

Wright County, township dispute puzzling

Wright County and Corinna Township seem to be in a dispute over who has final say over planning. It sounds as if Corinna Township wants to do its own planning and zoning. Why? Has Wright County made some bad plans for the township in the past? Is there a specific incident that Corinna Township representatives can point to that shows it is better to have the township do its own planning? The same goes for Wright County. Has the township done something specific in the past that shows it can’t be trusted to do its own planning? The county and township need to be more specific.
